Swim Season

{bought this a few weeks ago and I am in love!}

Sometimes I think that I like buying swimsuits more than I like wearing them! haha! When I buy a new bathing suit I get motivated to eat healthy and work out more but that usually only lasts for a couple of days.... I also get so excited because that means warm weather! I love summer, a sunny day on the beach, or swim parties with my friends.
My favorite bathing suites are definitely from Victoria Secret! They are good quality and I feel supported in it. The second place I go to is usually Target. I like a lot of other places but many of them are just too expensive for a bathing suite!

{I want this so badly!}

{I think this is the one I have or it is very similar}

Top Shop Invasion

One of my favorite brands: Topshop! I was beyond thrilled when Topshop became available in Nordstrom and now a Topshop store opened in the Grove in LA! I cannot wait to go! Well, last week I went to Nordstrom and went a little crazy at Topshop... I can't wait to show you all of my new outfits but I thought I'd show you one of them! Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

I bought the faux leather leggings and the tank at Topshop. I then paired it with my new Steve Madden combat boots, Forever 21 sequenced bandeau, and leather jacket from Argentina.

Dutch Babies

Before you keep reading and think I eat babies... a Dutch Baby is a type of pancake! I fell in love with dutch babies since the first time I went to The Original Pancake house were they sell them. However, that place is usually very crowded and slow so one day I decided to try to make my own dutch baby at home: and it was a success!! Now they are one of my favorite things to make but they do take some time! They also take some practice to be perfect but just keep with it!
Once you have made your delicious dutch baby, make sure to have lemon and powdered sugar with you to put on top!

Tip: I know we all love to try to make recipes more healthy and less calories but do not switch out the four with wheat flour. I tried it and the pancake did not rise like it was supposed to and tasted horrible!

Fun Friday Favorites

I could do a "Fun Friday Favorites" post every Friday and never run out of new things because I seem to love everything! There is also always new things! When shopping, often people find something they really like then save up for it and buy it. However, when you are saving up, something new might of become available during that time so always research before you buy something really expensive. That might sound weird and research is involved in shopping and fashion but it is! (and it is fun research ;) )

Biggest Trends Right Now

Some trends tend be coming up again and again in every magazine or on every celebrity! Two of the biggest ones right now seem to be large, statement necklaces and army print, well, anything. And I, personally am a big fan. Beware though: over-sized necklaces don't match with everything...

Large, Statement Necklaces

Army Print
I want camouflage pants so badly!

Winter vs. Summer

Therapy Scarf, Urban Outfitters sweater, Target sweater dress, vintage belt, Steve Madden boots

This California weather really is bipolar! It rained today, but last week I was able to wear sun dresses and tan! This outfit is the perfect combo of winter and summer. I have had this dress for four years but I had only wore it once. With more time, now I know more ways to be able to wear this sweater dress and make it look fashionable. Remember: (almost) anything can be stylish if you just know how to wear it and what to wear it with. ;)

Bits and Pieces

 {Beautiful snowy morning in Ohio}

This past weekend I had my first dance competition and convention of the season! It was so much fun but know I am beyond sore and tired. I have spent the entire day lounging around, dreading school tomorrow. Trying to get the few positive things before school starts, I decided to post a long overdue "Bits and Pieces".

{A day trip to heaven- I really love chocolate :)}

All the Single Ladies!

Valentines Day!! Or for us single ladies, National Single Awareness Day! Just because we're single doesn't mean we can't have a good day too! Get all your girls together for a fun night (as my friends and I are). Give each other presents, or treat yourself! Luckily my parents give me a present on Valentines so I don't feel too lonely... (just kidding, but not about the present ;) ). If you do have a boyfriend, you lucky girl you haha. Whatever you are doing today have fun!!

Another holiday to discuss: (first let me throw out there I am Methodist) yesterday was Ash Wednesday! That means Lent has begun! This year, I have decided to try to give up all sweets and desserts for these 40 days... I know shocking! Wish me luck because I will for sure need it. Those of you who know me know I am obsessed with desserts. Once I start I can't stop and I seem to always be craving something sweet. I hope I can make it through and accomplish this!

Yummy cupcake hearts my friend Fiona make for my friends and I but I can't have any because I gave up sweets! Wow this really is going to be hard but love you FiFi!

Classic LBD

Black and White dress, Steve Madden wedges, Nordstrom bracelets and earrings

As I promised, pictures from my winter formal. I was so rushed before hand that I didn't have time to take real pictures for my blog! (Trust me I am very, very disappointed about that). For my look, I decided to go with a simple little black dress with pops of coral through my shoes, earrings, and bracelet. Originally I was not too excited about this dance but it ended up being the most fun one! My friends and I truly danced the night away! :)

Valentine's with the Girls!

Valentine's is an amazing, wonderful, special day... for those who have boyfriends. But for the rest of us, it is a yearly reminder: YOUR STILL SINGLE! But who cares!! We are enjoying our time as free independent ladies and the time will come when it is right. This year, spend it with your closest friends and maybe even give them Valentine's presents (or treat yourself!). :)

Fun Friday Favorites

It is currently 12:30 am, and I am forcing my eyes to stay open so I can finish the large piles of homework I have. In desperate need for a little break, I figured what perfect thing to do than to browse online stores for some of my favorite things?! That is right, Fun Friday Favorites strikes again!

On Thursday I was out looking for bright colored shoes to pair with a simple black dress for winter formal (come back Wednesday to see my outfit) and I found the perfect shoes!... just too bad they are way out of price range! But it doesn't hurt to just look right? ;)

Here are the shoes I got!

Super Bowl Sunday

Family and I are an avid football family! Although you wouldn't expect it since my parents have three girls! Since my mom was a 49er cheerleader, we are big niner fans. :) The only way to make yesterday better is if the 49ers won, but besides for that it was a perfect day! Full of lots of food, my best friends, football, dancing, and so much more. The amount of food we had was crazy! We had way too much but it was all delicious!

Eye-Catching Pink

 Free People dress, Forever 21 belt, Jessica Simpson heals, Foreign Exchange clutch

Birthday parties are always fun. But they're even better with all of your best friends, with amazing food, and a limo doesn't hurt either right?! With absolutely nothing in my closet that excited, I went drove over to Free People, not expecting to find much. Somehow I got so lucky with this dress! It was the only dress left of this style in my favorite color, in my size, and on sale for $40! (originally $118) I wore this to a friend's surprise birthday party last weekend... which seems so long ago! This week completely dragged out and I am so happy to be able to relax and watch a little football this weekend. :) Can't wait for the Superbowl Sunday! Go 49ers!!!

Back and Ready to Blog!

Hello everyone!

I know it has been quite a long since I've blogged but it was well-needed time. Thank you for everyone's love and support during these hard times. It was amazing to see how all of my family and friends came together to support my family and me. It is true: small acts do never go unseen. :)

To make my blog more uniform I am going to blog every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Quality over quantity right?! However, sometimes I might throw in a couple of extra blogs for fun.

I thought it would be nice to let everyone read my speech that I said at my grandma's funeral. I just completely copy and pasted it and when I say it I naturally change things but here is the written version. (I was beyond nervous to talk but it turned out well I think.)

Thank you all for coming today to celebrate the life of my grandma. I am Jodie, Leah Keel’s youngest granddaughter.

In the summer of 1997, my parents were busy opening the current location of the dance studio so my Grandma and Grandpa Keel gladly took us in. My sisters and I loved that summer...especially because we got to eat... a lot. Each morning we walked downstairs to find our over-easy eggs, Jimmy Dean sausages, and warm biscuits. Each day surrounded around eating. While Grandma cooked one of her many delicious dinners, we would beg our Grandpa to let us have our ice cream bars. Grandma would say to wait until after dinner, but Grandpa always convinced her to let us have them. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake, Jamie of course loved the chocolate, and Jessie ate both. Once our parents had time to really look us over at the end of the summer, they realized they were taking home three very plump little girls. Our faces were much rounder and we had a nice thick layer of chub... everywhere. We got pretty fat.

Everyone knows that Grandma Keel is the queen of cooking. She spoiled us as little girls and continued to do so even at our ages now. Whether if you’re with her for five minutes or all day, you will leave her with a very full belly and a huge smile. I was so lucky to live with her for the last seven years of her life so this was a common occurrence for me.

The biggest way my grandma and I bonded was through cooking. I seemed to have inherited this trait of the love to cook from both of my grandmas. When my grandma keel and I would cook together, I would try to write down the recipe but it was always so difficult because she didn’t use specific amounts of things like a cup of this or a tablespoon of that. She would say just put as much as you think is right, then you taste it and add whatever else you need. I can’t even try to count the times she cooked for me or we cooked together. Last summer, I noticed she wasn’t well when I asked her to make kimbap together but she said she was very tired and we would the next day. I had never heard her turn down cooking before. A few weeks later, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. These past five months I was in her house everyday, unless I wasn’t home. Each day I would come into her house, give her her shots and check her temperature and blood pressure and every time I finished she would say “Thank you nurse” with a huge smile. My grandma and I both looked forward to our little routine together every day.

When it finally sank in that she wasn’t going to be able to defeat this disease, she told my mom she wanted to be at our weddings and especially at my graduation. All I wanted was for her to be at my graduation. I won’t be able to look out into the audience and see her sitting in a seat next to my family or bend down like I always do when I have heals on to hug her. But I know that she will be there. Because she lives on through me, my sisters, my mom, and through all of you. Each one of us have our own special memories of Grandma Keel. We will cherish them forever.

I believe everyone’s ultimate goal in life is to love and to be loved. If this was my grandma’s goal, she accomplished this above and beyond. From these past five months, I have learned crying is okay, but there comes a time when we need to begin to live again. The only way to truly remember those who have passed is by showing them our appreciation for life.
We all have two choices now:
  1. Cry because she is gone and turn your back on the world she loved,
  2. Or smile because she lived an amazing life and try to love as much as she did.
Grandma Keel may be gone but she remains in all of our hearts forever.

Be ready on Wednesday for a new post!

Family First

Sorry I have yet to post something in the New Year, but I have had a lot of personal things going on. My grandma actually lost her battle to pancreatic cancer on January 2. As it has been very hard on my family for we are all trying to cope, and I have had no time/inspiration for my blog. My grandma was an amazing women who could keep you entertained for hours with her stories or cook you the best meal you have ever had (seriously!).
I will post something a little later more about my grandma but I am taking a little more time off my blog to focus on my family. Also, my sister and I are talking at the service for my grandma and I am so nervous!! I am going to convert all my energy to making a wonderful speech for my grandma (wish me luck!).
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive through everything or for sending letters, flowers, sweets, or prayers. The service for my grandma will be help on Monday at 2:00 pm at Los Altos United Methodist Church. All are welcome to come! :)
For now, here are some pictures of my amazing, loving grandma!
